DIAL nominated for Pride in Rochdale Borough award 2012

The achievements of some of Middleton’s most inspirational volunteers were celebrated at a glitzy awards ceremony.

Hundred’s of people attended the inaugural Pride in Rochdale Borough wards held in Middleton Arena at the end of September 2012. The awards celebrated local volunteers, community groups and sports stars.

Council leader Colin Lambert said “I am highly delighted to be here to celebrate the work of volunteers across the Borough.”

Mayor of Rochdale Coun James Gartside said: “The awards have been launched this year as it is the International Year of Co-operatives and volunteers demonstrate many of the values that are at the heart of cooperatives, such as looking after each other and caring for our communities.”

Middleton DIAL was nominated in the category of ‘Involving Volunteers’, however DIAL was pipped at the post by Pennine Care’s Expert Patients Programme, who interestingly enough also run sessions at the Lighthouse Project which is our base.

Maybe next year we will finish higher up, but thank you to those who nominated us.
